Casterton, known as the birthplace of the Kelpie working dog, is home to the Australian Kelpie Centre. The state-of-the-art Henty Street facility, situated in the heart of the Kelpie Walking Trail, includes an interpretative display showcasing the history of this iconic working dog and story of Victoria’s first in-land European settlement. People are traveling from across the world to learn the story of Casterton and its rich cultural heritage which are beautifully showcased in this insightful building. The facility also includes a Visitor Information Centre with plenty of information on local attractions, including our rich arts scene, inspiring landscapes and historic architecture. There are also amenities and meeting spaces on-site to cater for all abilities. You will walk away inspired by our beautiful township and its friendly people.
